Inside Mid State Surgical Center: A New Approach to Outpatient Surgical Care
A new chapter in orthopedic care is taking shape right here in Central Louisiana.
For generations, Mid State Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Center has been proud to serve the people of Cenla. As our community has grown, so has the need for convenient, specialized orthopedic care. Now, Mid State is taking another step forward with the opening of Mid State Surgical Center, an orthopedic-focused surgical center designed specifically around the needs of orthopedic patients.
Located right here in Alexandria, the new facility represents a continued investment in Central Louisiana and in the patients and families who have trusted Mid State for generations.

Built Around Orthopedic Care
Unlike a traditional hospital setting where orthopedic surgery is one of many specialties, Mid State Surgical Center is designed with orthopedic care at its core. From the operating rooms and recovery areas to advanced imaging and dedicated clinical spaces, the facility is being built to create a more streamlined experience for orthopedic patients.
The center will feature:
- Six operating rooms
- 12 pre-operative beds
- 14 PACU/recovery beds
- Two clinic halls
- Dedicated MRI and X-ray services
This brings many important pieces of the orthopedic care journey together under one roof.
For patients, that means access to advanced orthopedic surgical care without having to leave the Cenla area for many procedures.

Technology is another important part of the new center. The facility will include state-of-the-art imaging, including a permanent MRI and X-ray, along with advanced surgical technology designed to support today’s orthopedic procedures.
But technology is only part of the story.

Making Same-Day Joint Replacement Possible
One of the most exciting opportunities created by the new center is the ability to expand same-day joint replacement care for appropriate patients.
Through Mid State’s Total Joint Advantage program, patients preparing for hip or knee replacement receive education, personalized preparation and recovery support. The new surgical center adds another piece to that experience by providing a dedicated setting for outpatient orthopedic surgery.
